SIENA. La professoressa Alessandra Renieri, docente del dipartimento di Biotecnologie mediche dell’Università di Siena, è stata nominata, in qualità di rappresentante del Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca, membro del Policy Board dell’European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD).
Lo European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD) coinvolge oltre 130 Istituzioni di 35 diversi Paesi con l’obiettivo di creare un circolo virtuoso tra ricerca, assistenza sanitaria e innovazione medica a livello mondiale. Il Policy Board è l’organo consultivo della EJP e avrà il ruolo principale di indirizzare la strategia di ricerca e la sostenibilità, nonché di guidare lo sviluppo dei Work Programme annuali. Ciascun membro dialogherà con i principali stakeholder del settore a livello regionale, nazionale ed europeo.
La professoressa Renieri è docente ordinario di Genetica medica e responsabile della U.O.C. Genetica medica dell’Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria senese. Il suo principale interesse di ricerca è lo studio delle basi molecolari e delle terapie avanzate (gene editing) delle malattie rare, dalla disabilità intellettiva alle malattie renali, e più di recente le basi genetiche della variabilità clinica di COVID-19, come testimoniano le numerosissime pubblicazioni scientifiche internazionali.
